Pronunciation of Dupnik
Dup nik
(DOOP neek)
It is a Polish surname from Silesia.
The Dupnik's settled in Panna Maria, TX in 1854.
The name was changed for to Dupnick (the "c" was added) by the Joseph Dupnick family in the 1940s, possibly because Sylvester Dupnik wanted to get into the US army and he was underaged. The new spelling would have prevented the army from checking his records.
