It's my married name and my husbands family are from the Mississippi Gulf Coast area so it's pronounced with a very deep southern accent. People often try to make it sound European when they say it, like "RamSHIRE, or RamSEWER," but it's not pronounced that way at all. The family are not immigrant's and there are very few in the US with that sir name from a genealogy standpoint from what I've been told. They are just standard white people that have had resided in the southern states for a long period of time.
