Except for foreigners (or those originally not from there...), the only acceptable pronunciation for Milwaukee is: MWAU-key (just TWO syllables).

When I first started out as a DJ at MWAU-key radio stations during 1965, I had to train myself to say: Mill-WAU-key for the station-ID breaks. Of course, only those in broadcasting (or foreigners...) would ever pronounce Milwaukee as Mill-WAU-key.

Another thing, only radio announcers would say DOUBLE-you for the 'W' in radio-station call letters. Again, the folk in MWAU-key would naturally say DUB-bah-yah for 'W.'
