How to pronounce Mielke?

"I've always used "milkee" for ease of use for the locals, however our "country cousins" always used milk-a. My dad who is from northern Germany (near the border of the former east/west) would say meal-keh." It is about the same here in Canada as well. Everybody says "milkee" - so we let them. But, it's meal-keh in Germany where the name originates.
