mc DONE uh and mik duh nuh are right. I live in McDonough, GA. I have also heard that's the irish way to pronounce it.

The CORRECT Pronunciation: mak-DAWN-uh. Or mak-DAW-nuh. Pronounced like the word "dawn."
The beginning can be like "mack" or "muck," but the middle cannot be "DUH." That is a disrespectful mis-pronunciation.
You don't call McDonald's "mac-DUH-nulds."

McDonough, Ga. Should be pronounced as "Mac Donna" per the Scottish pronunciation of the name of the early settlers as spoken by long time residents of McDonough. Newer residents moving in say "Mick Dunna" so you can always tell who has not lived there for generations. You should always respect and pronounce a towns name like the older generation does even if that same word would be or is pronounced differently elsewhere in the world. Just ask the people of Edinburgh, Scotland. They would not take kindly to people coming in and telling them they need to start calling their city "Ed in berg" even if it's spelled that way.
