How to pronounce Marrotte?

( ma wrote tay ) with the accent on the last syllable... at least according to every french person i've inquired of although my family has always gone by ( mar rot tea ). I found out as an adult that's what my fathers army buddies called him so that's what he stuck with.

My Marrotte family is from New England and they all pronounce it (mare it)
