This is a Sindhi Surname. I am too a Bathija.
The surname bathija is of three origins viz:
KHUMBATHI, GYANNANI, CHUGH. OF THESE THREE KHUMBATHI
IS SUPERIOR. There is lot of confusion prevailing
regarding Sindhi surnames, hence many may not know the meaning and origins of the surnames. The surname Bathija is common in Punjabi too. Centuries ago, Bathijas from Sind migrated to neigh-bouring Punjab and did not return to Sindh. Those who stayed back, assimilated with the Punjabi culture but continued with the surname. ( At this moment of writing to you, I too was trying to find the meaning
of my surname. Unfortunately, my forefathers have
