My mother was named after her grandmother, who was born in the mid 1800's. My grandmother and grandfather were born in Burlington, Iowa. At least one side of their ancesters moved to Iowa by covered wagon from the east, maybe Ohio. My mother was born and raised in Fort Worth,Texas.

I'm guessing the origin of the name was probably Spanish, but somewhere back the pronunciation was changed.
