The locals are referred to as Ni-Vanuatu (Ni pronounced as in 'Nee' (born) or meaning born Vanuatu.
This is often shortened to "Ni-Van' or "Ni-Vans" NEVER "Ni-Vahs" or "Ni-Vahns".
Your pronunciation is therefore VERY wrong although it is not the first time I have heard "outsiders" call it that.
